Probe Innovation Facility Strategic Plan

The Nano/Bio Probe Innovation Facility assembles a comprehensive set of enabling research tools to support research interactions that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to sustain. The Facility is unique to Penn, where the newest advances in probing single molecule and nanostructure behavior are made available to the research community. The Nano/Bio Probe Innovation Facility develops next generation probes of local phenomena, making these available to the research community long before they become commercialized.

The Nano/Bio Probe Facility is being developed within the framework of a three phase plan. In Phase I, interim space was renovated, first generation probes and prototypes were constructed, management infrastructure was installed. In Phase II the new probe capabilities will be extended. Phase III consists of integration and expansion in the new Khrishna P Singh Nanotechnology Center, construction due to begin in 2009. Each phase represents ~3 years.
